Background: The Book of Common Prayer 1892 has been authorized along with a new hymnal. Pressure mounts to accept "high church" innovations such as vested choirs, and altar candles and flowers. Urban parishes are opening missions for immigrants and orban poor.

• Women continue their work in local parishes, Sunday Schools; missions; hospitals; schools, orphanages, retirement homes, parish life, and the Women's Auxiliary;  serve as deaconesses, parish visitors;  join and form religious orders; and continue to read services in remote areas.
• Women have founded and disburse the funds of the United Thank Offering.
• The National Altar Guild has formed.
• Mary Ann Drake Fargo has founded the Church Periodical Club.
• Daughters of the King has formed.
• General Convention has passed a canon recognizing the setting apart of deaconesses, and training schools for deaconesses have opened in New York and Philadelphia.
• Deaconesses begin the Indian Lace Project in Minnesota
  
• Vida Scudder, Jane Addams, and Ellen Gates Starr become pioneers in Settlement House work.
  
• Companions of the Holy Cross formed by Emily Malborne Morgan.
• Women begin voting in parish meetings in some dioceses and in the Missionary Diocese of Nebraska are deputies to diocesan conventions.
