Two Scholars Imagine the World of Early Christian Women

With Kate Cooper & Deirdre Good at General Theological Seminary, November 18

katecooper

We are thrilled to pass along the news that Kate Cooper, professor at the University of Manchester has published Band of Angels,  on women in early Christianity. Professor Cooper is a great friend of General Theological Seminary‘s new Academic Dean (and beloved Professor of New Testament), Dr. Deirdre Good, and she will be giving a talk at GTS on November 18, 2013.

Professor Cooper writes, “One of my motivations in writing the book was to put something into the hands of pastoral colleagues/educators that gets the question about early women away from ‘ordination’ and into a ‘lived religion’ territory that is more directly useful to the majority of women who are of course in the laity! It was difficult (but really interesting) to try to frame it that way without losing the scholarly gravitas.”
